Vuonna 1965 sain cockerspanieli narttu Fin,N & Dk Ch Shadown. Ensimmäinen pentue syntyi 1967 ja samana vuonna sain kennelnimeni LEAVENWORTH. Tällä hetkellä kasvatan kahta rotua, Cairnterriereitä ja Cockerspanieleita. Mutta olen myös kasvattanut Amerikancockerspanieleita, Kultaisia noutajia sekä muutaman kk. kettuterrieri ja cavalierkingcharlesinspanieli-pentuetta. Nuoremman tyttäreni Sallan kanssa omistuksessa on ollut Sealyhaminterrieri sekä kaksi Skotlanninterrieriä.

In 1965 I got an English Cocker Spaniel bitch Fin, N & Dk Ch Shadow. First litter was born in 1967 and that year I also got my prefix LEAVENWORTH. At the moment two breeds are above all, Cairn Terriers and English Cocker Spaniels. But I have also bred American Cocker Spaniels, Golden Retrievers and few Wirehaired Fox Terrier and Cavalier King Charles Spaniel litters. I have owned a Sealyham Terrier and two Scottish Terriers with my younger daughter Salla.

60-luku - the 60s

60-luvun lopussa toin ensimmäiset cockerspanielit Englannista

- At the end of 1960s I brought my first Cockers from Great Britain:

Int Ch BLACK MISTERY OF TOLSTEM.

80-luku - the 80s

Tämä oli menestyksekästä aikaa Leavenworth cockereille Suomessa, Ruotsissa ja Norjassa.

Sitten Englannissa syntyi 1.6.1980 punainen uros FinW-82 Bidston Solomon,

jonka onnekseni sain omakseni. Vaikka "Solo" voittikin monta sertiä ja cacibia, se ei koskaan

halunut taipumuskokeessa uida, joten valionarvot jäivät saamatta.

Trevor Bromanin arvio Solon jälkeläisluokasta kertoo kuitenkin sen todellisen arvon:

"Yksi Skandinavian parhammista jalostuskoirista".

80-luvun lopussa aloin etsiä pienempää rotua. Halusin helppohoitoisen, terveen ja

ehdottomasti hyväluonteisen rodun. Ja vuonna 1988 tuli ensimmäinen cairnimme

Int & Fin Ch, W-91 LARINKALLION JASMIN tyttärelleni Sallalle. Jasminin myötä kiinnostukseni

tähän rotuun kasvoi ja seuraavana vuonna tuli Ruotsista punainen uros

Int & Fin Ch SARIMONT SYLVESTER. Nämä koirat olivat juuri sitä mitä halusin ja menetin

sydämeni tälle rodulle lopullisesti.

This was a successful time for Leavenworth Cockers in Finland, Sweden and Norway.

Then a red male was born in England on 1.6.1980.

I was fortunate to get this puppy, FinW-82 Bidston Solomon, to me. 

Although winning many cc´s and cacib´s, he never wanted to swim,

so he didn´t pass the working test and was left without champion titels.

At the end of 1980s I started to look for a smaller breed. I wanted it to be easy to take care of,

healthy and absolutely good-tempered. And in 1988 came our first cairnterrier

Int & Fin Ch, FinW-91 LARINKALLION JASMIN to my daughter Salla.

Along with Jasmin my interest to this great breed grew and in 1989 I brought from Sweden

a red male Int & Fin Ch SARIMONT SYLVESTER. These dogs were just what I had wanted

and I lost my heart to Cairns for good. 

Pansy´s As Right As Rain

In the beginning of 1990s it was hard to find new cocker material for breeding, because one of my most important demand for dog is good quality of nature. Luckily I had: 

Pansy´s As Right As Rain from Sweden, 

Leavenworth Paper Tiger (Cocker of the Year 1996 and Int Ch if he had working test) and Snugglewood´s Andantino.

At this point the champion titels were no longer so important, but I can say that there would have been many new International Champions 

if I only had the energy...

With Cairns, I imported new dogs from England and Sweden.
